Sri Lanka Probes $2.5M Cyber Heist in Finance Ministry Hack

Sri Lanka's government is investigating a complex cyber heist, where the finance ministry's computer system was hacked to divert $2.5 million. This amount was kept to return debt to Australia and authorities came to know about the incident when Australian officials informed Sri Lanks that money was not received. In another incident, the attempt was made to divert money, which was set to send to India. Fortunately, the move was intercepted by Sri Lanka's officials. During this investigation, four high-ranking officials have been suspended, and foreign police agencies have been asked to help with the matter.
